Short trip to Tasmania

Having family also in Tasmania makes it a must 😉 hopping over to Tasmania as well. So done last weekend.

Our plan was to explore the north and east part of Tasmania as good as we can within a long weekend of three days. We stayed in Launceston which is the second largest city in Tasmania after Hobart with nearly 100.000 residents.
It is easy to get there by plane from Melbourne and takes you only 1 hr.

The first day we drove as far as we could towards Devonport and finally Penguin and stopped in Mole Creek at the Caves. On our way back we stopped at the Fairy Falls.

The second day we drove all the way down to the Freycinet National Park and went to the Wineglass Bay Lookout and to the Wineglass Bay Beach. The walk to the beach was not that easy. A sign says more than 1,000 steps down and of course up again. But the beach and the view was worth it.

Bicheno Blowhole

On our way back we stopped at the Bicheno Blowhole for a quick photo stop.

Tamar River Launceston Gorge

At our last day we made our own tour around the city of Launceston. First we went up the Tamar River a few kilometers to have a look up and down the river. After that we went to the Gorge in Launceston and the park in the city. That was a lazy day just hanging around for a bit.

Next time I have to see the missing parts of Tasmania so I have to come back again ;-).
